Cherryland Revolts Against Plan to Build More Housing

According to the Hayward Daily Review, Cherryland residents are up in arms over the county's plan to clear the way for new apartment and condo construction. These residents have long suspected that the county has let this struggling blue-collar neighborhood to be used as an epicenter of drug rehab centers and halfway houses. In addition, they fear that the new land-use designation will only produce more low-rent apartment complexes and cram more poor people into an area with an already-high concentration of alcohol sales and blighted roads. The poor neighborhood even has all the county's pot clubs! They just don't get no respect.
