Cambodian Street Food

Restaurant Details

Cambodian Street Food feels like a refreshing return to street food’s roots. It’s a humble, cash-only take-out joint where you can get an egg roll for 80 cents, three beef sticks for $5, and an entrée for around $10. Owner Malinda Bun started the restaurant in November 2018 to showcase the cooking of her mother, Mach, who grew up in Cambodia. The papaya salad makes a refreshing start to the meal, with pleasantly funky fish sauce and creeping heat. The beef sticks are marinated with lemongrass, then grilled to perfection. For entreés, try the chicken cha kreung, a stir-fry of zingy lemongrass, green beans, and bell peppers served with fluffy, aromatic white rice. Don’t miss the steak with prahok sauce — a simple dish of grilled steak served with an umami-packed sauce of fish paste, chili, lime juice, and Thai baby eggplant, plus lettuce leaves and mint for wrapping.
