Calexico plays the kind of spaghetti-western-flavored fare that'll conjure up images of Sergio Leone and Stephen King's Roland of Gilead. And with its latest album Carried to Dust, the band's braintrust of John Convertino and Joey Burns pump up the Southwestern, mariachi-flavored nuances that mark so much of their work and are reflected in "Victor Jara's Hands," a tribute to the late murdered Chilean musician/poet/activist. The band will bring its brand of indie-rock Mexicali to the Fillmore (1805 Geary Blvd., San Francisco) on Sunday, Sept. 28. 8 p.m., $25.
