Cal Saves Men's Rugby, Women's Lacrosse, and Women's Gymnastics

Three teams, all slated to be cut this June, have been spared the ax, according to an announcement released earlier this morning — though Men's Baseball and Gymnastics weren't so lucky.

After the University announced in September that its athletic program was no longer sustainable and that some teams would need to be cut, a grassroots fund-rasing effort sprung up almost immediately and eventually raised about $13 million. According to today's release, those donations will be enough to sustain three teams, but gifts to the Baseball and Men's Gymnastics programs fell short.
