Buy Curious: Back-to-School Shopping!

Does anyone else find it cruelly ironic that the "summer" here actually gets nice and summery just as soon as you have to go back to school? While you lament the sunny blue skies and warm temperatures from inside a windowless classroom under fluorescent lights, console yourself with a prettier view - your new wardrobe courtesy of some back-to-school sales. Don't miss out! All the info after the jump …

Wow, it's been a great summer for shopping. Though, yes, we are heeding the warnings about the impending collapse of our economy, somehow, it just makes us want to shop more! We have been somewhat responsible however, by buying locally made products (supporting the economy, see?), not using our credit cards (zero debt!), and buying quality items (less chance of ending up in the landfill). Yeah, we're feeling good about ourselves. Here's a recap: We started the summer off with a bang, snatching up quite a few pairs of shoes (slouchy boots, mary janes, high-heeled sandals with rivets, and, oh, a couple more) at Twenty-Two's crazy-crowded sample sale: deeply discounted, locally designed, made in Italia. We're totally ready for fall. Next, we finally made it into Atomic Garden, and snagged a very cute and comfy all-purpose black dress by environmentally friendly ParkVogel (psst … it's on sale here). In between, we picked up some mighty inspiration at Al's Attire (his $600 coats are still out of our range) in North Beach: impeccably tailored, insane attention to detail, and vintage stylings that will last and last. And what a nice guy! Finally (and we apologize for not alerting you), we spent a good 2.5 hours at least weekend's Warehouse sale at Dish in Hayes Valley, combing through racks of past season's leftovers. Getting there an hour early paid off: we snagged deeply discounted, high-quality items from Development, Mike & Chris, Rebecca Taylor, Lauren Moffatt, and Goldenbleu, all from last season. Overall, we feel pretty prepped for fall. Well, almost.
