Have you had an excruciating week? Do you need some reassuring news? Eye-candy perhaps? A little retail therapy? This weekend, a plethora of indie designers are ready to help calm your soul via a fashion-music-art extravaganza. There are also sales galore, discounts on discounts, and a few local kind souls wanting to help you out. Plus, croc sales are down. See? Things aren't so bad after all.


Cold Chillin'
Yes, it's another massive event organized by the folks of Chillin'. This weekend, check out live painting, catwalk videos, live screen-printing (bring booty shorts or a T-shirt, organizers advise), DJs, and goods from fifty independent designers, including Porcelynne Lingerie (with new lace-up-style undies and sports bras on hand), fiftyseven-thirtythree, Modern Vintage Jewelry, and many many more.

Help for the Aspiring Designer Within You
You've got an idea - I've always wanted to be a fashion designer - but no clue how to pull it off? Think you could be a contender on Project Runway? Then you may need the services of the East Bay Fashion Resource. Co-launched by Porcelynne designer Jennifer Lynne and designer Misty Rose of mzz T rzz Accessories, the East Bay Fashion Resource aims to help budding independent designers understand what it takes to get your business up and running (with an emphasis on the running). Their seminars, which start this fall, include topics like "Production, Marketing, and Sales" and "Concept to Reality". Wardrobe for Opportunity
Looking for a J-O-B? Wardrobe for Opportunity wants to let you know about their career services for low-income individuals. The nonprofit organization helps men and women looking for employment with career services, counseling, and, yes, a wardrobe. They've got a new location in Contra Costa County, in Concord at 2051 Harrison Street, which for the first time has the capacity to serve men in the area.
