Bombshell: The Hedy Lamarr Story

Rated NR 90 minutes 2017

Not only was Hollywood actress Hedy Lamarr considered the most beautiful movie star in the world during her peak period in the 1930s through 1950s, but when she went home at night she was a world-class inventor - her most brilliant electronic invention formed the basis of today's WiFi, cell phones, GPS, and Bluetooth. She faced obstacles, however. Filmmaker Alexandra Dean's scrumptious biodoc tells all, from Lamarr's childhood in pre-WWII Vienna to her troubled sunset years. Worth a look for fans of old movies and immigrant success stories. Written and directed by Dean (The Player: Secrets of a Vegas Whale) (89 min., 2018, not rated)
