Four bands that play bluegrass, old-timey, folk, and/or hillbilly music with an in-your-face attitude and a dark edge will make up a bill dubbed “Old-Time Southern Murder Hour,” to be held at Slim’s on Saturday, Mar. 20. Southern “horrorbilly” band Pine Box Boys will headline the event, which will also include performances by “outlaw bluegrass” outfit the Earl Brothers, The Last Men on Earth (“cut your throat folk”), and Good Luck Thrift Store Outfit (“raw as hell Americana,” which also features former Grandaddy drummer Aaron Burtch). 8:30 p.m., $15.
