Black Cobra

When: Sat., Dec. 6, 9 p.m. 2008

The last two years have been quite good to Black Cobra. The San Francisco duo is currently the top-selling metal artist at Berkeley's Amoeba (at last check) though its most recent effort (Feather and Stone) was released more than a year ago; the band has shared stages with High on Fire, Torche, the Sword, Saviours, and Pelican; and it keeps amassing fans with its stellar live shows. Black Cobra's popularity should come as no surprise since its brutally loud sound spans the gamut of heavy music -- blasting with hardcore-fast riffs one moment, then the sludgy-iestheadbanging drone the next (sometimes, as in the case of "Thrown From Great Heights," during the same song). The band will steamroll EastBay fans on Saturday, Dec. 6 at the Stork Club (2330 Telegraph Ave., Oakland), along with Totimoshi, Who Rides the Tiger, and the Worship of Silence. 9 p.m., $8.
