Bike-In Double Feature Movie Night

When: Fri., April 23, 6 p.m. 2010

Local environmentalists dream of a day when bikes will not only be a primary mode of transportation, but a social norm. All BART stations will have valet bike parking. Bars will have a special rack to stow bike helmets. Every tree and signpost on the block will have a two-wheeler tethered to its base. To top it all off, we'll replace the old-fashioned drive-in movie theater with the newfangled, ecologically correct "Bike-In." Members of the East Bay Bicycle Coalition will test out that dream on Friday, Apr. 23, with a special double feature pairing the anti-fast-food documentary Food, Inc. with a 1970s sci-fi flick called Silent Runnings. Fifty percent of proceeds benefit the East Bay Bicycle Coalition. At Whole FoodsOakland (230 Bay Pl.). 6 p.m., $5. EBBC.org
