Raiders paraphernalia is objectively scary. So, at first glance, is the owner of Kim's Backyard. Which is why it's so perfect that, besides a smattering of Christmas lights, Raiders gear is basically the entire decorative concept behind the venerable institution/bar owned by slight but fearsome seventy-year-old Kim Okwa Janke. There's two black-and-white Raiders logos on the sign outside, dozens of stickers and flags lining the bar, a glowing Raiders clock above the cash register, and framed posters hung on every bit of wall space. Usually sipping on cognac and keeping a hawk's eye on your popcorn levels (if she likes you), Kim seems like she could easily command an entire team of 250-pound football players with just a sharp glance. But she has said she opened up her bar because "It's like a party.... I like to party." Thus, the Raiders shwag is just her version of great party decor.
