Swaying palms, ocean breezes, the scent of coconut oil, and the white-blue mosaic of sand, sea, and sky: all that's missing is the tall glass of ice, hooch, and speared pineapple, a tiny umbrella tilting jauntily from the rim. Classics like the Singapore Sling, the Frozen Daiquiri, Planter's Punch, and Oakland's own Mai Tai are all excellent options at cocktail time, but César Latino's newfangled Bobo Brazil is a worthy addition to the canon. As the name suggests, the drink's primary rocket fuel is cachaca, the Brazilian sugarcane hooch that makes caipirinhas so mood-enhancing. Combined with coconut, orange juice, and ginger syrup and whipped into a tropical frenzy, it's sweet and creamy and hallucinogenic all at once, an ideal companion to the venue's tacos and empanadas. Enjoy them out on the front patio and pretend you're in Bahia instead of Oakland.
