Best Spicy-Sweet-Hot Treat

The Spicy at Bittersweet Café

Who doesn't love hot chocolate and — even better — hot chocolate with a peppery kick, two great tastes that taste great together? The Spicy from Bittersweet is the best stuff on the planet, but make no mistake: This is not your grandmother's hot chocolate. It's deliciously smooth, frothy, and fiery with spice. These pricey little cups of goodness ($3.95) go down too easy — toasty warm, velvety, rich and then — kapow! — the piquant pepper strikes with a hint of cinnamon and rose. Inhale, take a breath, sip again. Sip slowly. Try to pace yourself, like counting the licks it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop. When done, use finger, tongue, spoon, etc., to get every foamy drop from the cup. If you don't have normal business in the vicinity of Bittersweet, you'll be inventing reasons to head that direction after just one Spicy. It's that kind of an addictive treat.
