The word "rasa" in Sanskrit means "flavor" or "essence," which is exactly what Rasa Caffe delivers with their rose latte. A dreamy, fragrant blend of rose, saffron, and vanilla, the drink feels like the answer to the bitterness of that third cup of coffee. The house-made chai is just as good and is the original recipe of owner Rasa Sun Mott, son of two prominent Black Panther Party leaders. Before opening the shop, Mott worked alongside Oakland chef Tanya Holland at Brown Sugar Kitchen and B-Side BBQ. The shop itself is small with a few stools and some outdoor seating, which makes it feel so cozy and secluded, you almost forget it's in the middle of a busy road.
