.Best Quickie Workout Hike

Claremont Canyon Regional Preserve

Most of us have the best intentions when it comes to exercise: We know we should do it, and we even want to do it, but finding the time is another matter. If you’ve got 30 to 45 minutes and you’re prepared to sweat, head for the hills behind the Claremont Hotel for a quick hike that’ll seriously work your legs and glutes. The .75-mile Stonewall-Panoramic Trail begins midway up Stonewall Drive and leads to an immediate steep incline up the hill. When you’re huffing and puffing at the first clearing of eucalyptus trees, you’ll be rewarded with a glorious view of Oakland and Berkeley, the bay, and the Golden Gate Bridge. If you’ve got it in you, keep going to the ridgetop, where the view is totally unobstructed and panoramic. You can get back down the hill in a jiffy, and when you see the ridgetop from afar, you can proudly know you just conquered it in less time than it takes to watch a TV show.
