Best Proof Beer Can Summon World Peace

Armistice Brewing Company

Siblings Gregory and Alex Zobel didn't get along as children and drifted apart as adults when a family tragedy forced reconnection. A peace offering in the form of a home brew kit got the brother and sister talking and soon brewing together. Not long after, the two started making bigger batches, then winning competitions, and they eventually opened a brewery of their own in August of 2017. They named it Armistice — their ceasefire, their truce, their path back toward each other. Armistice carries no flagships but brews an ever-changing roster at the Richmond brewery and tap house, with all beers retailing between $6 and $8. They also host an "ally tap," each month pairing a tap with a different local charity. Every pour from the ally tap kicks a dollar to a good cause, which is further proof that beer, properly enjoyed, can go some ways toward fixing this broken world of ours.
