Tilden Regional Park

Tilden Regional Park packs a punch with its enormous variety of activities. There’s a carousel and steam train for the kids, an interactive animal farm, and Lake Anza to swim in, not to mention shaded hikes on the park’s 2,079-acre property. The land is gorgeous, with flowers and small ponds adding variety to the different paths that meander through the park. The area is easily accessible in the Berkeley hills, with adequate parking and ample space to unload the car for a day picnic. The trails are well-maintained, varying in steepness and ability levels for the experienced hiker or the casual stroller. There’s also plenty of grass to lie out on after a long hike, where people can relax and enjoy some sun. Tilden is the ideal mix of kid-friendly activities and quiet trails, perfect for a family outing or a mellow day of reflecting while walking among oak trees.
