This cozy, unpretentious Solano Avenue cafe is not just another trendy boutique coffee shop; it's been serving its Albany neighbors homemade baked goods, fair trade coffee, and delicious organic breakfasts and lunches with local ingredients and humanely raised meats since 2006. Stroll into the brightly colored cafe and owner Maria Myers will make you feel like you've just dropped in to a neighbor's kitchen for a chat — that is, if your neighbor's kitchen had an endless supply of gooey, golden blueberry muffins, lattes with imaginative designs drawn into the foam, Applewood bacon frying on the stove, and a seasonal fruit pie baking in the oven. Myers also keeps the lunch counter stocked with an array of local artists' goods for sale, from candles to greeting cards to books that were dreamed up or written right there. Come for the organic fare, and stay for the good company.
