Best of the East Bay Party
Kids Stage Preview

Fri., Aug. 6 2010

The Best of the East Bay Party on August 6 will have an amazing variety of events for its all-ages guests. The East Bay Express is excited to preview acts that will be featured on our Kids Stage, with this week's band Poison Apple Pie!

Poison Apple Pie includes the fresh ingredients of Emmalee Johnson-Kao (lead vocals, keyboards and bass), Torrey Hart (vocals, keyboards, drums and bass) and Jasmine Stade (vocals and guitar) - all middle school students from Oakland. The band emerged during the summer of 2008 after a session of Bay Area Girls Rock Camp (BAGRC).

Deemed "more precocious than precious" by SF Weekly, Poison Apple Pie's original tunes combine spark and snark with lush three-part harmonies. This young band delights crowds with refreshing covers by The Clash, Green Day, REM, Amy Winehouse and the New Pornographers.

In just two years, Poison Apple Pie has gigged a-plenty. They have performed at the Starry Plough, Oakland Art Murmur, the Temescal Street Fair, the Oakland Library, the SF Asian American Film Festival, a private wedding and a number of special events sponsored by BAGRC.

Learn more about the band at the Poison Apple Pie website.
