Every First Friday, the chefs at Forage Kitchen — Oakland’s food business incubator and commercial kitchen — pitch tents and create a mini food festival, spread out across the kitchen and parking lot. There’s usually live music, a vibrant energy, and a wide variety of tasty dishes for sale. It feels a bit like a food truck festival, except it’s more curated and less crowded, with options that change every month. Generally, the chefs at Forage are talented folks making exciting food, and you can expect the quality to be high. Recently, we’ve spotted Taiwanese-style dumplings, cornmeal-fried catfish, New York Jewish deli-style pastrami sandwiches, and cardamom doughnut kebabs.
