Eating dinner inside a movie theater has become less of a novel concept over time, but it’s still a fairly unusual find in the East Bay. The Alameda Theatre & Cineplex offers the most lux option, with its comfy seats and — if you’re seeing a film on the biggest screen — one of the most stunning historic theater environments around. With the addition of Cinema Grill, the bistro and bar connected to the theater, folks can now also take advantage of in-theater dining and drinking as well as seat reservations. This is a clutch option for popular movies, allowing you to waltz in right before the film starts and still have one of the best views in the theater. Servers will deliver right to your seat, and the options are better than you might expect: fried calamari with truffle oil and dill aioli, pesto deviled eggs topped with bacon, or grilled mahi mahi tacos with mango-jicama slaw, for example. Pair your meal with a cocktail, local beer, or wine — and yes, there’s dessert, too.
