Ohlone Dog Park is a large, off-leash dog run that is conveniently located within walking distance of both the downtown and North Berkeley BART stations. This gated dog park is a great option for dog owners who are not in the mood to drive up to the hills or to Point Isabel, but still want a place where their dogs can run around and socialize with other canines. There are plenty of tennis balls and other toys lying around, not to mention free doggy bags to help keep the park clean. Instead of grassy lawns, the ground is covered in woodchips, which gives the spot a woodsy feel that goes well with the wooden benches and picnic tables sprinkled around. Folks at this community park are friendly and welcoming, and dogs both big and small roam freely. And the City of Berkeley is currently reviewing a renovation plan that will divide the park into two separate areas — one for big dogs and one for little dogs — which will make this popular spot even better.
