.Best Clothing for the Apocalypse

Team Print Shop

When the apocalypse rolls around, you’ll need to stockpile weapons, silently rank your kids in order of importance, and accurately evaluate your ability to shiv a friend over the last Twinkie. But if the end of days is too much doom and gloom, you’ll be glad you hoarded tees from Oakland-based Team Print Shop, which specializes in cheeky riffs on recognizable logos and sayings. The custom design and printing company, run by John Ream and Loren Purcell, took off after Canadian blog Booooooom wrote about the duo’s Bieber shirts — “Bieber” written like the logo for Slayer. “We tried to think of the toughest band we could think of and the wussiest,” said Ream. “It started as stupid things that make us laugh, but it led to serious business and other opportunities.” Despite a surprising amount of hate mail from die-hard Slayer fans, they continued designing tees in their rare time off from printing for local companies such as Beer Revolution and Manifesto Bicycles. You can sport a T-shirt featuring a potato in an A’s hat (designed by an artist they met over beers at Lanesplitter) while raiding the nearest CVS, or level a block in Team Print Shop’s newest shirt: a cat splayed in a pile of money, in between the words “meow money, meow problems.” Laughter is, after all, the best medicine … unless it’s a zombie bite. Then you’re screwed.
