Sometimes you need more than just a thirty-minute jaunt on the treadmill a few days a week to really wake your body up. And what better way to get a sweat going than boot camp? Sure, you have to wake up at 5:30 a.m. and work out for an hour Monday through Friday for four weeks, but Oakland Adventure Boot Camp will get you in shape. The workouts for women are led by certified trainers Anna Gunn and Jennie Votel, who combine yoga, Pilates, drills, obstacle courses, and other activities to get heart rates going and all parts of the body toned. The boot camp, which also has workout options in Berkeley, Walnut Creek, and Lafayette, is made for the seasoned triathletes and couch potatoes alike. Whatever fitness level you’re at, Oakland Adventure Boot Camp will offer a workout that can help strengthen even the weakest body — minus the monotony of a treadmill, of course.
