There are a lot of great athletes in the East Bay, but UC Berkeley's swimming star Missy Franklin is a once-in-a-generation talent. Franklin burst onto the international scene at the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London, capturing four gold medals — the most of any female athlete — and five medals overall. She also broke the world record in the 200-meter backstroke, her specialty. Then last year, she topped that amazing performance at the World Championships, snagging six gold medals, the most ever for a woman. If you didn't get to see her swim for Cal last year, make sure you don't miss her this year, because she plans to turn pro in 2015 as she readies herself for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
