Best Animator

Bret Parker, Pixar

This former dancer and Oberlin College grad is one of Pixar's top animators and an enthusiastic dispenser of animation know-how as a mentor at Animation Mentor (an Emeryville-based online school founded in 2005) and an instructor at Oakland's California College of the Arts. Parker's students are treated to insightful critiques based on her thirteen years of experience as a go-to animator at Pixar, while her audience is wowed by the many memorable characters she has helped bring to life. Parker, who started out as a production assistant at Pixar, where she often stayed late into the night to glean tips from the studio's venerable pool of animators, is one of the rare animators who has worked on nearly all of Pixar's films. Monsters Inc., Toy Story 2, The Incredibles (where she was also the voice of Kari the babysitter), and Ratatouille all bear the Parker mark. Lucky us.
