It's 1:45 a.m., you've just stumbled out of the bar, and you're hungry. But where to eat? Despite the many valiant efforts to serve food late at night in Oakland, there's still a dearth of options past last call. That's when you scrounge for change and head to Tacos Mi Rancho — open till 2:30 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, and till 3 a.m. on the weekend. Not surprisingly, this taco truck — parked on a tiny triangular block across from Lake Merritt — sees plenty of action, but service is fairly swift even when it's busy. (A security guard keeps everyone in check.) The tacos are pretty tasty even when you're sober, but if you're a little saucy, they'll be extra amazing — especially with those fiery pickled carrots as garnish. And, did we mention? They're only a buck twenty-five each!
