Cheers: The first annual Berkeley Wine Festival begins on Friday, Mar. 12, with a reception at the Claremont Hotel, Club, and Spa (41 Tunnel Rd., Berkeley). Launching a two-month array of seminars and dinners, each featuring a local winemaker, the soirée includes a buffet created by Chef Josh Thomsen along with fifty-plus wines from wineries including Far Niente, Duckhorn, and Cliff Lede. 6:30 p.m., $85.
