Berkeley Underground Film Society

When: Dec. 16-18, 7 p.m. 2011

Watching movies at home is a cozy and convenient avocation, but being part of an underground film society is an arguably more sophisticated (not to mention sociable) means to occupy your time -- and an easy way to expose yourself to films you might not otherwise find in your Netflix queue. Lucky for you, the Berkeley Underground Film Society holds once- to thrice-weekly screenings and discussions of archival films, random cinematic gems, and shorts on a mix of 8mm, super 8, and 16mm formats. The all-ages club meets in the wheelchair-accessible Tannery Building (708 Gilman St., Berkeley) on Friday through Sunday, Dec. 16-18. 7 p.m., free. 510-845-5007 or BerkeleyUndergroundFilms.blogspot.com
