A state appellate court has upheld the city of Berkeley’s decision to revoke the business permit of U-Haul truck rental on San Pablo Avenue, according to the Daily Planet. The city had revoked the permit after U-Haul repeatedly violated its conditions by parking trucks on nearby neighborhood streets and being a poor neighbor in the area. U-Haul has since tried to bury the city in litigation. In addition, a separate court last week dismissed a suit brought by a Berkeley African-American resident who claimed that the city violated her constitutional rights when it shut down the U-Haul facility because the truck center catered to low and lower middle income residents.
