10 weeks - no class 11/24. There are many elements involved with learning to improvise. From the song form to the chord changes, ideas, interaction, and historical aspects of the music that make something sound like "jazz." But one thing’s for sure––it's not just the notes. Accents, inflections, phrasing, and articulation all influence the sound and style of a solo, in addition to the choice of syllables and vowel sounds when “scat singing.” In this fun course, you’ll learn several well-known bebop tunes that will enable participation in jam sessions while building a vocabulary of great melodies, licks and ideas.
