Bayshore Kickball League

When: Thursdays, 7:30 p.m. Continues through Dec. 1 2011

Lest any doubts linger about the suitability of kickball for adults, witness the rise of the World Adult Kickball Association. Founded in Washington, DC, in 1998, the organization now hosts more than 200 leagues in 31 states, including three in the East Bay. Danville's Diablo league returns in the spring and Oakland's Neptune is nearing the end of its summer season, but Alameda's Bayshore is just ramping up for a ten-week season starting Thursday, Sept. 29. Official registration will be full soon if it's not already, so act now if you want to join. Every Thursday, teams play at UpperWashingtonPark (740 Central Ave., Alameda) at 7:30 p.m. and convene afterward at Scobie's Bar & Grill (2431 Central Ave.) for food, drinks, and socializing. $70.
