Bay Area Girls Rock Camp's 2nd Annual Art Auction

When: Fri., Feb. 4, 6:30-10 p.m. 2011

The world is seemingly overrun with quirky female singer-songwriters, but few of them are as talented on both sides of the hyphen as Mirah. As a singer, the San Franciscan manages to be both disarmingly unique and technically virtuosic; as a songwriter, she's found a cult following by crafting literate, emotionally fearless songs. All of this makes her -- and her current touring partner, Thao -- a perfect fit the Bay Area Girls Rock Camp Benefit happening Friday, Feb. 2, at the Humanist Hall (390 27th St., Oakland). The event, which also features an art and memorabilia auction, will raise money for Bay Area Girls Rock, a non-profit that aims to empower women and girls through music lessons, workshops, and performances. 6:30 p.m., $15. 510-267-1808 or BayAreaGirlsRockCamp.org
