Bass Center III featuring Bassnectar

When: Sat., Sept. 17, 7 p.m. 2011

Bassnectar, the famed Burning Man DJ who announced in 2007 that he wanted to switch over to hip-hop, has reinvented himself quite nicely -- if you even want to call it "reinvention." Playa or no playa, he continues to drop some of the best dubstep, dance, and electronica mixes out there, relying largely on wobble bass and weird studio effects. He's signed to the San Francisco underground hip-hop label Om Records, also home to AmpLive and J. Boogie's Dubtronic Science. And he now has enough clout to produce and headline his own eponymous festival, called BassCenter. Its third iteration happens on Saturday, Sept. 17, at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium (99 Grove St., San Francisco), with a lineup that also features Wolfgang Gartner, Dan Deacon, Big Gigantic, Low RIDERz, and Vau de Vire Society. 7 p.m., $40.
