Barefoot in the Park

When: Fridays, Saturdays. Continues through Feb. 16 2008

Actors Ensemble of Berkeley opens its 51st season with the ever-popular comedic high jinks of Neil Simon, patron saint of community theaters. In Barefoot in the Park, a just-married couple moves into a Manhattan apartment only to find husband Paul's legal ambitions at odds with bride Corie's bohemianism. You know, just like Dharma & Greg! Add to the mix Corie's passive-aggressive mother and an aging Casanova as an upstairs neighbor, and you've got yourself a sitcom -- or a Neil Simon play. Alan Barkan directs his first production in many years. January 18 through February 16 at Live Oak Theatre (1301 Shattuck Ave., Berkeley) or 510-649-5999.
