Band of Horses

When: Sun., Oct. 28, 7:30 p.m. 2012

Say what you will about Band of Horses -- that its Southern-tinged indie rock sounds like warmed-over My Morning Jacket, or that its last two albums have fallen flat compared to its first two. Those complaints aren't entirely without merit, but still, the band does uplifting, nostalgia-inducing weepy rock like few others. When Band of Horses last breezed through town two years ago, at the Greek Theatre, the experience induced college-age couples to sway in the crisp air, singing along with unabashed enthusiasm (to its earlier songs) and even raising their lighters. We imagine a similar response when the band plays The Fox Theater (1807 Telegraph Ave., Oakland) on Sunday, Oct. 28. Wear your plaid shirt. Howlin Rain opens. 7:30 p.m. $30.
