Baby Loves Disco

When: Sun., March 25, 12 p.m. 2012

This is just frighteningly adorable. Launched by a professional dancer and mom, Baby Loves Disco is a chance for hip parents to indoctrinate their kids, or at least instill a certain set of cultural values -- namely, that if you move your ass, your mind will follow. That's not even facetious. Babies really do get to move their baby behinds at this afternoon event, which features bubble machines, egg-shakers, scarves, snacks, and authentic Seventies and Eighties disco mixed by professional DJs. Photos on the event website show tots being spoon-fed by their high-heeled mothers, kids sucking their thumbs on the dance floor, glow toys, balloon animals, and one particularly precocious kid busting a move while others look on dispassionately. When you think of the various ways that parents have of keeping their kids occupied for two hours, this one isn't a bad choice. At The New Parish (579 18th St., Oakland) on Sunday, Mar. 25. 2 p.m., $15, four tickets for $50.
