Ayelet Waldman

When: Wed., Sept. 21, 7 p.m. 2011

However you feel about Ayelet Waldman, this much is certain: Her new-ish novel, Red Hook Road, is fairly fantastic. Published (and widely praised) last summer, the book begins with a devastating accident and then spins, elegantly, into a story about the way relationships bloom, wilt, and change irrevocably in the aftermath of tragedy. Red Hook is now out in paperback, and the Berkeley-based author reads from it at A Great Good Place for Books on Wednesday, Sept. 21. 7:00 p.m., free. 510-339-8210 or GreatGoodPlace.IndieBound.com
