Rated PG-13 110 minutes 2011

Russell Brand, playing the archetypal childish multi-millionaire who learns valuable life lessons when he falls in love with an ordinary woman who works for a living (Greta Gerwig), is just as hard to take as Dudley Moore was when he played the role in 1981. Must be the British twit factor. Luckily for actor and executive producer Brand, Gerwig and Helen Mirren (Arthur’s long-suffering nanny) are quite good as the drunken playboy’s two best friends. The screenplay — by Peter Baynham from a story by Steve Gordon — would embarrass Mother Goose. Directed with a candy cane by Jason Winer. (105 min.)
