Armed Robbers Strike Southside

UC Berkeley Police have just issued a crime alert based on two armed robberies that occurred a few minutes apart last Sunday night near campus.

At around 9:22 p.m. at the intersection of Dwight and College, a male student "was approached by two male suspects who robbed him of his property at gunpoint. Both suspects fled eastbound on Dwight Way," reads the UCPD bulletin, which describes the robbers as African-American men in their twenties, both around 5'9" and heavy, one "wearing a green cap, a jacket with a colorful design, dark pants, and armed with a handgun," the other "wearing a red/orange shirt and dark pants."

About ten minutes later, a woman was walking eastbound near 2723 Derby "when a vehicle pulled up next to her," the bulletin continues. "Two suspects, one armed with a handgun, exited the vehicle and demanded her property. The victim complied and both suspects got back in their vehicle, which was last seen traveling eastbound on Dwight Way." The suspects in the second robbery are also described as African-American men in their twenties, about 5'10" and 6 feet tall, one heavy and "wearing a white hooded sweatshirt, dark pants, and armed with a handgun," the other of medium build and "wearing a white puffy jacket." According to the witness, the vehicle was "an older white American car (possibly a Cadillac)."
