The recession may be (mostly) over, but that doesn’t necessarily make graduating from college any less abjectly terrifying than it’s ever been. Ari King knows: After graduating from Wesleyan four years ago, the Oakland native spent his first few months sleeping on couches, surviving on falafel and pizza, and working the night shift at a hotel in order to make ends meet. Eventually, though, he used the experience — as well as those of sixty other college graduates from all walks of life — to self-publish Now What?!: Conversations About College, Graduation, and the Next Step, a collection of revelations, horror stories, and advice on making the transition from undergrad to adult, hopefully without having to sleep on a couch; he’ll read from it at a Great Good Place for Books (6120 LaSalle Ave., Oakland).
