Anything Goes

When: Aug. 8-9, 7:30 p.m. and Sun., Aug. 10, 5:30 p.m. 2008

What's not to love about Cole Porter's 1934 Broadway musical Anything Goes, a humorous battle-of-the-sexes involving star-crossed romances, mistaken identities, bumbling gangsters and their even-more-bumbling sidekicks, Bible-thumping nightclub singers, thwarted crime capers, and false seductions that become real -- all taking place aboard the S.S. American? This weekend, a cast of precocious middle-school actors revive the eight-decades-old musical at Julia Morgan Theatre (2640 College Ave., Berkeley). Directed by Simon Kaplan, this Stage Door Conservatory Production will take place Friday and Saturday, August 8-9, at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, August 10, at 5:30 p.m. $10-$20.
