Having studied under the tutelage of much-laureled bards including Robert Hass, Gary Snyder, Galway Kinnell, Sharon Olds, and Brenda Hillman, Andrew Demcak has been widely published in poetry journals. (Sample lines: "The syringe ... the dull plug of its tongue,/and blood tearing blindly, unreeling to/worship that little prick. .../Hot shrieks next to/the cooking pan.") At Pegasus (2349 Shattuck Ave., Berkeley) on Saturday, Jan. 26, he reads from his debut collection Catching Tigers in Red Weather. Sharing the podium is Oakland-born Nina Lindsay, author of the debut collection Today's Special Dish. 7:30 p.m.
