This Montclair falafel house has a strange duality: On one hand it is a fully kosher, Sabbath-observant restaurant that serves as a community hub for Bay Area Orthodox Jews. On the other, it’s part of Jonathan Wornick’s ambitious plans to create the nation’s first Israeli street-food chain. The falafel and hummus are fresh and tasty, and the sabich fried eggplant sandwich is a less familiar winner. But unless you’re strictly kosher, skip the pizza — American fast-food items were added to the menu primarily to appease the strictly observant.
