ahdanco's Home Season

When: Feb. 26-27, 8 p.m. and Sun., Feb. 28, 6 p.m. 2010

Among the most promising of the East Bay's innovative small dance ensembles is Abigail Hosein'sahdanco, whose home season at Shawl-Anderson Dance Center (2704 Alcatraz Ave., Berkeley) marks its eighth year of investigating the human psyche through modern dance and multimedia collaboration. "here, look" comprises six pieces that reflect on human relationships in a chaotic world, performed in an intimate setting as part of the Dance Up Close/East Bay series. Taking advantage of the EastBay's abundance of talent across all the arts, ahdanco will perform to new music by Oakland's Scott Simón while sharing the stage with Oakland Poetry Slam's Aaron Gardner and Nazelah Jamison for a premiere piece. Friday and Saturday, Feb. 26 and 27, 8 p.m.; Sunday, Feb. 28, 6 p.m.; $15-$20. Performances seat fifty, so advance tickets are strongly recommended. 510-654-5921 or
