Cable TV comedian Nick Kroll co-wrote this family-style comedy about a guy (Kroll) with numerous regrets, including the fact that his parents never taught him how to swim. And indeed, Kroll’s forgettable story seems as if it were written in chalk at the bottom of a swimming pool. When his character isn’t moping around, ashamed of being reduced to taking a job as his young nephew’s “manny,” he’s interacting annoyingly with his sister and her husband, played by Rose Byrne and Bobby Cannavale, who look as if they’re wishing they were somewhere else. Long before this toothless exercise ends, you’ll wish the same. Directed by Ross Katz, from a screenplay Jeff Cox and Liz Flahive, adapted from a story by Kroll (90 min.).
