"A beautiful and fascinating exchange going on between great artists...twenty-first century troubadours...if you are within range of any of these shows, don't miss it!"
-Afropop Worlwide

For the first time, rising women vocalist of Africa are showcased in the ongoing journey of Acoustic Africa. This event features Grammy-winning vocalist and dancer Dobet Gnahore and bassist and drummer Manou Gallo, both from Ivory Coast along with Kareyce Fotso, a young singer from Cameroon. After worldwide critical and commercial success in 2006 and 2011, the third installment of Acoustic Africa focuses on the richness of the African traditions of the voice and the song.

The title "Afropean Woman" refers to the strong ties and mutual cultural influences between the nations in Western Africa (Mali, Ivory Coast, Cameroon) and Europe. The women of Acoustic Africa embody, as well as inhabit, this cross-cultural realm between their respective home countries and their lives in Europe. This project is a celebration of "African-European" culture with particular focus on the experience of the African-European woman or, "Afropean Woman."
