"A Hungarian Excursion" Not to miss at Berkeley Symphony

Thu., April 26 2012
Berkeley Symphony's final Zellerbach Hall concert of the season features a program you won't hear anywhere else.

The concert begins with Zoltán Kodály's Gypsy music-inspired Dances of Galánta, followed by Bartók's Music for Strings, Percussion, and Celesta, a piece that is most well known for creating the eerie atmosphere in the 1980 classic thriller, The Shining. The luminous soprano Jessica Rivera returns to Berkeley and joins the orchestra and award-winning San Francisco Girls Chorus in a highly-anticipated world premiere of Gabriela Lena Frank's Holy Sisters.
