Now that Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Penn.) has lost his No. 3 Senate seat after years of making a giant ass of himself, we have to wonder if his troubles were compounded by a relentlessly cruel meme-bombing campaign from EBX syndicated columnist Dan Savage of Savage Love. On April 20, 2003, Santorum stated that he believed consenting adults do not have a Constitutional “right” to privacy with respect to sexual acts. Dan Savage declared in his column that the name “Santorum” would hereby be defined as “the frothy mix of lube and fecal matter that is sometimes the byproduct of anal sex.” The zeitgeist absorbed the new meme, and now Santorum will ooze out of Washington just like he oozed in.
