5th Annual Heyday Harvest

When: Thu., Dec. 8, 6:30 p.m. 2011

Writers from Jack London and John Muir to Joan Didion and Dave Eggers have found a muse in California's physical, cultural, and emotional landscape. It's a literary legacy that Berkeley's Heyday Press -- slogan: "Into California" -- is committed to honoring, most recently through its new annual series, New California Writing. At the David Brower Center (2150 Allston Way, Berkeley) on Thursday, Dec. 8, Heyday founder and executive director Malcolm Margolin appears in conversation with the anthology's editor, Andrew Lam; civil rights lawyer J. Tony Serra; poet Stephen Meadows; and short-story writer Mariah K. Young. Also expect a wine bar, snacks, and a "bring a book to life auction," which will fund an upcoming biography of the building's namesake, David Brower -- a California environmental pioneer, naturally. 6:30 p.m., $55. or 510-549-3564
